      speed cap

When my broadband (mid package) was first connected i had loads of problems with it and one of the things sky did to resolve them was limiting my connection speed from 8.1 meg down to 7.6 meg. this didnt solve the problems but now after receiving a replacement router the problems have gone. i asked them to put my connection speed back to 8.1 meg but they seem reluctant to do so. they keep telling me that it wont make any difference. Is this true and if so why cap it in the first place. has this happened to anyone else?

If you are getting a stable connection at 7meg i would be happy as I am paying for 16meg and getting 3 !

I have been unstable until recently when sky made some tweaks which I believe are down to them trying to push too much data down the line, so I wouldn't try to get too much speed.

With overheads and stuff them changing you to 8.1 wont really make a difference, You wouldnt really feel the 0.5mb increase!

No - you're paying for an up to 16meg service and getting 3.

Presumably your line won't support more?

@Barolo, If it continues then ask to downgrade and then save some money!
