      If you were to purchase a Sky Hub SR101 it would cost you 69 + postage.

      Since you are out of contract, you will be offered this option as Sky have now stopped shipping replacement Sagem 2504 routers (or their equivalents)

      In addition you will also be advised that you can agree to stay with Sky Broadband for a further 12 months. In this instance you'll be shipped a replacement Sky Hub SR101. I'm not 100% sure if you'll be asked to pay for the postage though.

      If the router is faulty, then Sky may want to charge for a replacement. If you're out of contract, then signing up for another 12 months, they should provide you a new one for free. IMHO I'd argue to get a free one anyway as they insist on using their router anyway.

      Well, tonight I have rebooted the router , but still ethernet ports are not responding,

      I have no internet connection when using the ethernet cables

      With Wireless it is fine

      So, tomorrow I shall call Sky , and I'm sure they'll make me jump through all the hoops I've already jumped through this week.

      I will not pay for a new router / hub. My intention is to stay with Sky , but I'm not keen on paying for a new hub, if they supply it , then there is no problem

      Anyway, we'll see

      Well folks

      I have dragged out to the hallway and the main test socket , the laptop and the PC , and connected them both to the router via the test socket, and of course 2 ethernet cables

      Neither device worked with the ethernet cables

      Well, I got something, but of course nothing like what I would expect

      I rang Sky , who were actually very helpful

      They concluded , based on the tests I had run over the course of the week, , that it was the router. Of course, we could never be 100% sure, but, they concluded that they would replace the router

      I have re-signed with Sky for another year , meaning I get a Free Sky Hub

      I had to pay postage , but that was only 2.18 , I wasn't in the mood to argue, so I agreed to this

      I had some other issues this afternoon with the router also, but eventually it came back to life, it only has to survive at least until Friday , as I need to wait 3 -5 days for the Sky hub to arrive

      Very pleased that we can move on now,

      I was starting to worry that it was the phone point in the lounge, but I don't really know enough to be sure it is , or is not

      I got same results from the router at the phone point in the lounge and also the test socket in the hallway, so I guess we can rule out the phone point in the lounge as a culprit. Plus, I connect a phone to the phone point in the lounge , and it worked , although I don't know if that means it works with the 'net or not - , but I feel I can rule this out as a cause.

      I guess I'll know by end of the week when the Sky hub comes , and I hook it up to an ethernet cable in the lounge , then we'll know

      Thanks all for your help this week

      I'll let you know how the Sky hub goes when it arrives

      Well all seems good now

      Sky Hub was received today , I had to go and get it from the Post Office depot, as I was out yesterday working.

      I've hooked it all up now

      Had a bit of an issue in that I forgot how to attach wireless devices to the hub , but once I had figured that out, there was no problem

      Connected to an ethernet, I get high speeds - 16mbps , which is fine, perfect for what I need.

      I've just connected the XBOX aswell and all seems well there too

      I know this, as it connected to my PC straightaway , and also signed into XBOX Live very fast
