New Sky Hub + Windows 8 = Slow loading pages

I don't know if it's just me but since i upgraded to the New Sky Hub and Windows 8 the loading of web pages seems to have slowed right down (on both Firefox and Chrome) . And when i go into the hub maintenance and change between sections i have to stop the loading and restart it to get there !
I changed the Hub first and it slowed down and it got worse since going onto Windows 8 .
It's the same on both my computers , The Laptop (wireless) and the main one (Cabled) .
      Any thoughts ?

There should be no issue with the loading speed.

Are both your laptop and PC on Win 8 now?

Re: New Sky Hub + Windows 8 = Slow loading pages

Older Sky routers (I use the F@ST 2504n with firmware version 5.23.1a4N) all have this same issue on Macs as well. Trying to configure anything on my Sky router is a complete nightmare. Mine tends to get better with time (although it still throws up random white pages when trying to save a setting). The routers GUI is always virtually un-usable for about 20 minutes after a reboot.

Sky typically deny there's a problem. They clearly don't test their hardware properly before releasing it.

Re: New Sky Hub + Windows 8 = Slow loading pages

I have Windows 8 installed on my main PC and cabled into the Sky Hub and web pages load nice and speedy.

One thing I have noticed is that if I set the wireless channel to Auto wireless clients slow down to a crawl and time out but setting the channel to a static one such as 13 in my case resolves all these issues.

I have many wireless AP's around me and don't think Sky's Smart Signal works very well at all.

Re: New Sky Hub + Windows 8 = Slow loading pages

Could Ardbeggordon and johnbourne please post the version number of the firmware of your sky Hub please?

@James_Mitchell : I haven't used the Sagem 2504N, but i know that the Sagem 2304n has a problem with a slow GUI. Most people have been happy with the Sagem 2504N. As for the Sky Hub SR101, this is a totally different beast. Sky has had this one built in house and whilst the WiFi chip is a similar version to that of the Sagem 2504N, there are more differences than similarities. The cosmetic layout of the GUI design is quite different and there are a few other changes under the hood too.

I could post a copy of the Open source Licensing Information, but there is just to much of it. You would then be able to compare it with what is used with the Sagem 2504N.

      Sure Scubbie its 1.15i.2202.R

It replaced 2504N which was fine and the wireless was definitely better although throughput is about the same (can max out 100mb ethernet wirelessly) the range is marginally better on the 2504N.

It cannot be that different if the same issues are arising though can it?

The GUI is painfully slow on the 2504n

This is the most current firmware. I have posted a message on the beta forum to see if anyone else has experienced an issue with the GUI.

Could I ask that you make a note of any customised settings which you may have made, use the back up facility to save them to a file, then reset your router to clear the memory to see if this is the issue.

To reset the router, press the 'Reset' button on the rear of the router for around 10 seconds.

Afterwards you will need to redo any personalised settings.

Please let me know how things go.

Re: New Sky Hub + Windows 8 = Slow loading pages

I have no problem with the GUI on the SR101 its just the wireless really, however the 2504N GUI was very slow in comparison.

I did try all that when I first got it however nothing made any difference and the only things I have changed is the SSID and the WPA2 key.
