      Sagemcom F@st2504n on Ebay

Been considering purchasing a newer router from Sky as my old Sagem 54g is useless for wifi any further than 10 ft away from router.
I see a lot of Sky Sagemcom F@st2504n listed on Ebay.
Anyone purchased one from Ebay, Do I have to alter anything in router settings or inform Sky of the change of router type?

Or should I hang on and see what the new Hub SR101 has to offer and would it be better than the Sagem N?

It depends on the history of the router you buy. Most are OK and will work by just plugging them in, no need to worry about changing any settings or informing Sky. There are a few which have either been barred from Sky''s data base or not entered in it in the first place, these will not work.

The new router is very near general release and is said to be better than the Sagemn.

So I guess it's a hit or a miss if they have been barred or not buying from ebay

It is, but the percentages of rejects is very low. At a low price it is worth a shot.

How do you get issued with a new one from sky, is it as simple as purchasing from them direct? (Silly question I know)

The SR101 is due imminently, and is rumoured to be 39 initially. Imminently in my view means anytime between now and towards the end of October. However, it has all gone quiet, and no beta testers will say a word about any of the plans etc for obvious reasons. As soon as we find out, we will let everyone know.

Thats not to say you could try ringing Sky and asking if you could buy one now though.

They can only say yes or no.

As far as we know, once they go on sale, new customers will automatically get one free, and existing customers will have to pay 39 (+ posting I bet)

I was quoted 50 for a Sagem router by customer services few months ago, I saw it on Sky shop online too for the same price. Why is the new one cheaper?

The Sagem 2504n (the current one) should be priced at 35 plus 2.18 postage iirc

The SR101 is rumoured to be 39 plus postage, but then rise again after the initial period of release, whether or not that is true, remains to be seen.
