Unhappy The lights are on but nobodys home

I received my live date from Sky as the 5th October, my Sky provisioned router had been sat plugged in to the phoneline with only th wireless light and the power on up until that point.

So ont he morning of the 5th to my suprise the internet light has appeared! excitedly I plugged the Ethernet in to my laptop and ... nothing.

I have a lot of experiance with these things so i marched straight in to the configuration on 192.168.0.1 and it tells me that the LCP is down and CHAP Authentication has failed. This normally means that a there is a problem with the password or username but the Sky router has these shut off to us mortals.

I have phoned support and they took me through the obvious but I am still not up, I try to connect every day and the little green 'i' light is a bit of a tease because it still doesnt work.

They say there are problems but it sounds like a brush off, has anyone else got a similar problem/had a similar experiance?

      Thanks!

I had to reboot mine using the pinhole on the back in the same circumstances. I presume you have tried this?

      Fixed?

After being told that there was a fault in the area every time i called by some one in the Philippines I finaly begged my way to tech support back home, after reasoning with the guy he agreed that the CHAP issue meant that the username and password may be wrong so he has dispached me a new router, should arrive any day, I will inform the forum if it solves it.

What is irritating is that if I had not pushed to speak to someone else I would still be being told absolute rubbish and checking the connection every day to see if the 'problem' has been fixed.

The moral is, get through to the real english speaking tech guys and not the robots if you want any success in fixing your issues.

Hi... and by the way SkyDesperado... If u will be speaking with someone from us (Phillipines), pls don't be surprised... why?

1.) We aren't from your country. (that is why we always have to do research about your other ISP's, terms, etc.)
2.) We were only trained to troubleshoot.(for only 3 weeks and after that, we are receiving calls.)
3.) We have very limited informations about the product and status of the faults, if any, and specially... the things going on at sky.
4.) We haven't even tried or experienced using "Sky broadband"

So pls bare with us if we can't give a defenite answer to your inquiries, that is beacause we, ourselves, are not being given any.

But if your issue requires troubleshooting, you can count on us.
