It is very unlikely that the firmware will be compatible with the newer routers. If it did work, I would think it will over write the N capabilities of the router and turn it in to a standard 2504. Try at your own risk.

      Gentlemen,

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately the .W file, or the other ones suggested will not load onto my 2504N. I can only assume that they are indeed incompatible, the router merely reboots back to the standard Sky firmware after the file is uploaded to it.

Re: f@st 2504 generic firmware needed

I rather thought that would happen, although the number is the same I believe these have different internals. Why they choose to call it a 2504, is a mystery.

I'm not sure if im barking up the wrong tree, but I have a hunch its a rebranded netgear, possibly because of the login ip address, might just take it apart and have a look

Re: f@st 2504 generic firmware needed

The original Sky router was the Netgear DG834GT. Sky took it off the shelf and had a customised firmware made.

Since then all the Sky routers have used the same design for the GUI and have used the same IP address range.

Netgear, D-Link and Sagem (now Sagemcom) have all supplied routers for Sky.

I guess by having this simplicity it makes the work of the support staff easier, however IMHO there is also a huge security risk since all their WiFi passwords have the same format (8 capital letters).

It is possible to change the default IP address range and to change the WiFi password & SSID, however most people do not bother.

Well, I took mine apart, and dont see any hints anywhere.

A sticker on the board says:

      250417K2055 V1.7

Cant see what the main chip is as it has a heatsink stuck to it, but there is another chip next to it made by "Linkcom" with two references: LAL063 & E1125G

Theres also a couple of unpopulated spaces on the board for what looks like IC's with approx 25 connections.

Re: f@st 2504 generic firmware needed

      Hello,

I have and SKY sagem router total grey color June-2010 model not sure which model number is it some says it is f@st 2504 and some says F@st™ 2404 I would like to flash the generic firmware on to it.

I also tried to search the whole forum and it seems all the download links are unavailable.

Could anyone post the .w link again please?

      Thanks in advance.
