Thumbs up Problem seeing 192.168.0.1 - RESOLVED

I have a new router and am hoping to be conected to the sky bb as of midnight tomorrow!

I have set up my router (to see if it had been done early) and decided to try and sset up my home network.

I am running XP on a wired desktop and wireless laptop.

I can access my router on my wireless laptop but not via my ethernet desktop, I just get a server not found error page.

      Any ideas?

      Thanks

can you ping the router from the desktop ? I guess not

if you do start > run > cmd and type ipconfig /a in the box can you paste the output. I suspect your network config isn't right ....

If you haven't got static addresses set up, do

      ipconfig /release

      ipconfig /renew

and see if you can ping it now .... ping 192.168.0.1

      Cheers

      Quick edit there Steve,
should read start > run > cmd and type ipconfig /all.

If you have got static IP, change NIC properties to "obtain IP address automatically".

      Cheers

1 - What does the ipconfig /all report
2 - Ensure you have no settings enabled in the IE > Internet options > Connections > LAN settings

When I type in ipconfig /all

A black (dos type) window briefly appears then disappears almost straight away

did you type cmd in the run box first? That should open the black box. it is in the black box that you type ipconfig.

      .0 Adapter
      Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-10-1C-E7-9F-A5
      Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
      Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
      IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.2
      Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
      Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
      DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
      DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

      Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : 16 October 2006 17:29:28

key thing to look for is the this bit:
      IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.2
      Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
