Sagem F@ST 2304n Power Down Config

      Silly question I'm afraid.

Whenever I power down the router, it seems to lose all it's config such as changed admin password Wifi channel, SSID etc.

Is this correct or have I got a dodgy unit with a non-existent battery backup?

      Regards

      Mike

The settings should be saved to flash memory. Try doing a factory reset by holding in the reset button in the back for about 10 seconds while the router is up and running., then see if any changes stick.

Tha'ts what I presumed. I thought I'd missed some 'save to flash' command.

I looks like I'll be onto 'Router No 2'.

Pity it was only just upgraded today which is why I started to customised it, but I had to disconnect it form the PSU to move it to a higher shelf. But it had reverted to factory settings when the power was re-applied.

I'll try again after a factory reset as suggested but I don't hold much hope.

I'll stick with the piggy-backed old router so I can keep the system secure if I get a power-cut.

Factory default turns off the wireless so its more of a pain in the butt rather than a security risk.

I wonder what the return rate for these Sagen heap of Junk is.

If I developed kit as unreliable as this, my firm would be bankrupt and I'll be out of a job

      Thanks for the advice

      Mike

Initially the response from Sky was to return the routers.

This caused Sky to run out of routers on several occasions, even for new customers.

As for the cost, I really wouldn't want to be the person responsible for all this. Since nothing has been made public, I would hope that this person has been asked to leave as a minimum.

Sky has got a huge backlog of calls for CST to deal with. Cancellations has also been inundated with phone calls.

Hopefully things will be settling down with the new firmware, but another release is due later this month. This should allow the router to work at full WiFi n rated speeds. Currently it only connects at a maximum of 72mbps.

That must be a new thing or a fault in the firmware. Sky have always supplied their routers with the wireless on, as this enabled those who could only use wireless to connect, to make a connection. They even provide a tutorial on how to do this-

Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n Power Down Config

Did a Factory Reset as advised by Fuzzy logic and Sky support and the router rebooted with Wifi enabled and it now seems to be behaving itself.
Perhaps I was being sceptical due to the hardware's track record and it was just a glitch.

I will try another power-down sequence tomorrow.

      Regards

      Mike

It was interesting that sky support advised pressing the reset switch whilst the router was switched off. Not quite right but nearly

      Quote:
I have looked into this issue you are having and found a possible fix. What I want you to try is,

Switch the router off at the plug so that there is no power going to it.
While it is switched off I want you to carry out a hard reset by holding a pen or a pencil into the reset rivet on the back of the router.
Hold it in for about 10 seconds.
This should clear any power left in the router and in turn wipe the flash memory. Once this has been tried then try setting the router up the way you want it and in theory it should hold the information this time.
