      Question Remote Management of Router

      Hi,

I have a D LInk router and have enabled the Remote Management feature, except I can not connect to it. The IP address is 90.200.24.3:8080 . I have also setup a DYnDNS account.

When I perform a reverse DNS lookup it resolves to my IP.

      Has anyone got some pointers?

      Re: Remote Management of Router

If you are trying to test it from the LAN side of the router, then it probably won't work, you could try testing it via a web proxy though.

It is wise to restrict the remote access IP address range as much as you can, and use an admin password that is made up of random characters, so as not to make dictionary attacks too easy.

      Re: Remote Management of Router

Any particular reason you want Remote Access? Its only use is configuring the router, you will not get access to your LAN through it. It is a security risk and should be disabled unless you want someone to configure your router from a distant site. Many get this mixed up with Remote Desktop which is an entirely different application.
