Speed

First connected Tues 28th Nov

Speed as of today for those of you who might be interested in comparing.

4516 kilo bits per second (Kbps), your service bandwidth will have been quoted to you in kilo bits per second.

Your IP address is xxxxxxxx, your browser is reported as being Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 and is running on Windows XP.

BT would regard the speed ranges shown below as normal service:

For 250kbps End Users speeds between 50 - 250kbps.
For 500kbps End Users speeds between 100 - 500kbps.
For 1000kbps End Users speeds between 200 - 1000kbps.
For 2000kbps End Users speeds between 400 - 2000kbps.

Re: Some Useful Info & tools

Internet Software - Is the new site for RouterStats

DMT (DSL-Modem Tool) - This is DMT ; a very advanced and very good tool for DG834GT routers.

Re: Some Useful Info & tools

@ qwerty12, thanks for the useful links.

I'm using Routerstats successfully & would like to use the DMT tool.
Any advice on how to log into DMT (DSL-Modem tool)? I've tried visiting the german forum but can't get DMT to recognise the Netgear DG834GT.

Any help appreciated.. determined to find the cause of the once a day slow down & then having to reboot.

Regards,

Max.

As a PS, 2 incomming phone calls this evening & 2 router reboots needed.
Probably more work to do on my internal extensions?

Re: Some Useful Info & tools

when you say reboot your router daily within the first 10 days, do you mean just pull out the plug for a minute or say then connect it again?

thanks

Sorry, I wasnt around for a while :|

Im using the UberGT firmware which has built in telnet server so I dont have to debug but if you are using the normal firmware ; these instructions should work for you

1. Grab this archive : http://www.2cent.de/dmt/v8/dmt.zip (for xp)
2. Choose English and whatever ADSL Annex you are using.
3. Tick special logon
4. Set the IP to 192.168.0.1
5. Set the username to : admin
6. Password to : <insert your password here>
Click connect!

Good luck and br

Re: Some Useful Info & tools

Thanks for the reply qwerty12, but I had already done all you suggested without success

As stated in another post, having sorted out the internal phone system & fitted the adsl nation master filter, sky bb is rocking

The only need for DMT tools now is just curiosity.

Thanks again,

regards,

Max.

Re: Some Useful Info & tools

just tried the DMT tool as well and no luck, think it is due to the fact the routers using Skys firmware rather than standard netgear?
