      Question Is ethernet required

Hi - New to this forum so apologies if this could be in a better place. i have received my router etc, form SKY for the connect package (hoping to swap to cheaper service when exchange is enabled). The setup instructions tell me I need the router plugged into an ethernet port, but both my desktop and laptop have USB wireless adapters or internal cards - do I actually need to plug the router into my PC in this case, or will my existing wireless setup on both computers find it if I plug the router into the master phone socket only?

If I can do this it will save me the problem of buying and installing an ADSL card for the desktop. If I can set it up this way any instuctions would be gratefully received - although not a complete technical no user, I am certainly no expert.

      Thanks in advance

      Welcome to the site Sludd

There is no reason why your wireless will not work but you will have to make sure you use the supplied security details that came with it.

I am surprised there isn't a built in Network Connection in your PC if its fairly new they normally have one.

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.
