Question Using Sky router username & passwords simmultaniously

      Hey,

This is my first post here. I have had sky broadband before, years ago, but am being activated on Friday again.

I have recieved the new D-Link router, and obviously cannot currently download the username & password from it. I do however have a friend using a Sagem router just down the road.

What i'd like to know is, would i be able to use their router username & password (with their permission of course) as well as them using the details on their sky router at the same time?

This is because i have a Dual Band, Dual Radio router that i'd like to use instead if possible.

Any help would be much appreciated!

      Thanks

      Mark

Don't think that'll work, but you could give it a go...I'd imagine if one set is already authenticated another won't be allowed...

That is a point I have raised a few times. In theory one of the routers should be rejected if the other is signed in, but it depends on how the Sky system works. It may not be, the only way to find out would be to try it. That's completely ignoring the legality question of course, it would obviously be illegal in Sky's eyes. I use the term illegal in its loosest sense.

The other option would be to give them your D-link router and they give you the sagem one.

Ha! Why didn't I think of that??

Still, I may still try as would be interesting to see if it did work or not. Probably best for my sake mind, to just swap them!

      Thanks again!

There may be a problem with that.
I'm not sure but if the the billing system uses the user name and password for ID rather than the line that the router is on your usage would appear on your friends account and vice versa.
OK if you are both on Unlimited but not if one or the other is on Lite.

It is your line that is used for charging, not the router details.

Re: Using Sky router username & passwords simmultaniously

Yeah, like isitme has said, i would see no reason why sky would have different login details per type of connection, as they all use the same routers, having different user/pass's per connection type would drastically increase costs. PPPoA is already more costly than PPPoE as it is.
