I doubt it, if it were it would effect all your browsing, not just secure sites. It is more likely to be a security issue with your PC. Download and run the free version of Malwarebytes and remove anything it recommends.

Does the same issue occur in safe mode?

Tried Safe Mode, but abandoned the idea after loads of trouble trying to get an internet connection. Will try the Malwarebytes option, and if that fails will attempt to install the Belkin router.

You need to start up in safe mode with networking and try it on ethernet, that will rule out a lot of things on the PC that could be causing it. If it's PC based nothing you will do on the hardware side will help it. You could also try downloading a Kubuntu live cd iso, burn the image to CD, boot from it and then try accessing a https site and see if it still does it.

Thanks people for all the help and suggestions. Finally all fixed after downloading Malwarebytes which found loads of problems, including a keyboard logger! All removed, although I had to do this all twice (despite restarting). Speed now to all sites is even better. Also, I took the precaution of changing sensitive passwords to banking sites etc.

      Well done.

I think you should also consider changing your security. CA does not seem to be doing a very good job.

It's up for renewal in a few weeks, and I was intending to bin it and instal Norton 360 v4.0 which I purchased earlier this year for a family member. It is licensed to be used on several machines. Your thoughts on Norton would be appreciated - I sacked Norton products some years back as they seemed to be doing more harm than good.

Do you have the paid version of Malwarebytes, and can you set this to be running all the time even though you have other security software?

      Thanks..

So did I. I have not used it since so can't really comment on how good it is.

I only use the free version of MB. The paid version of Malwareytes can be set to run all the time and will run alongside an AV application with no problem. However, I don't know how it would run alongside a suite like Norton 360 which is supposed to do the same job. You might find you get conflicts and a general slow down of your PC.
