Does it work o with a wire?

Have you checked that windows has not automatically updated the drive without your knowledge, if so, try rolling it back.

Acquiring network address usually means that you've entered the network key incorrectly. Have you entered the network key all in capitals?

I assume it's windows xp, so I'd go through the following:-

start > run > services.msc > right click 'wireless zero configuration' > properties > ensure that the start-up type is 'automatic' and service-status is 'started' > click ok

start > control panel > network connections > right click 'wireless network connection' > view available wireless networks > 'change advanced settings' in the bottom left > middle tab 'wireless networks' > ensure the tick box at the top is ticked and delete all preferred networks in the list > click ok

Go back to your list of networks and connect afresh to the sky network (ensure it's your ssid as per the card/sticker on the bottom of the router) and enter the network key (as per the card/sticker on the bottom of the router again) all in CAPITALS.

In the chance that's it is still acquiring network address, then do the following:

Connect an ethernet cable between computer and router > open a browser window > 192.168.0.1 into the address bar > username: admin password: sky > click ok > 'set-up' in the top left > change the channel from auto to something else and also change the ssid to something else > apply at the bottom of the page.

Once applied, go back once again into the list of networks and try to reconnect again. You should see 'acquiring network address' for a few seconds or thereabouts and then it'll say connected if successful.

Also on most Dell's there wireless manager is enabled from default, which
does conflict if you then try to connect using the windows wireless manager.

Go to the Control panel switch to classic view, have a look for a icon called
"Wireless Configuration Utility" double click it, then untick the box saying
"Let this tool manage your wireless network" then click ok, You should now
be able to connect fine with the windows wireless manager.

Re-installed Intel Proset driver after Harddisk cleanup and manually set IP address.
      Works fine now.
Still no Sky BB program, so connecting via IE.

Not sure what you mean with that, you don't get a Sky BB program as such. You are permanently connected to the internet, so just have to open a browser, IE, Firefox, Chrome or any of a dozen others, to go on line.

Re: Wireless part of Sky F@ast Router NOT working

Probably means the Sky Disc that comes with the broadband, but you dont have to use that to connect to the internet, its just something that Sky gives you as part of the package.

So dont worry about that if you cant get it to work, just use IE or Firefox or Chrome etc. to connect.
