      Cool Sagem Router Settings

Is it possible to set the target Noise Margin on the Sagem Router.
I had a Netgear where I was able to set the Noise Margin and had a target of 3.5db which tended to run around 3.9 - 4db BUT with a much improved download speed with no collisions or dropouts. I also had Bit Swapping, Seamless Rate Adaption and Trellis Encoding all checked and achieved a Download Speed of >4000kbps(the Attenuation was 65db. Now with the Sagem Router :

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3328 kbps 608 kbps
Line Attenuation 62.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.2 db 14.0 db

I have asked Sky to check it out and this is a small improvement on the original Sagem speeds but would be good if I could make a few tweaks.

As far as I know whilst the chipset in the Sagem should allow it the firmware SKY put on it will prevent you from making any SNR changes.

      Re: Sagem Router Settings

You can use DMT tool to adjust the target SNR margin not sure if it will work
with the Sky firmware as i re-flashed my sagem pretty quickly with 2404 but once
you power cycle it goes back to the target again anyway.

If I was you I would grab a ex sky DG834GT from ebay for 10-15 and re-flash it with
DGteam customer firmware to set a target snr margin that isnt lost if you reboot the router.

You could try a different router, but are Sky getting a bit sh*tty about what hardware you connect with now??

      Re: Sagem Router Settings

Thanks all, I did have a DG834GT but this passed away and died and on this I had upgraded the firmware to an offering some time ago from this forum. When the Netgear Router died and Sky tried to charge 28 for a new one I told them I had another Router which I would use but they said a definate NO, in the end I said I'll move to another ISP and they then sent me this Sagem lump.

      Many thanks to all responses.
