      @davekimber

      You are connecting at a good speed for your attenuation so I'd guess your line is in good condition. Your noise margin is what you'd expect as this is around the minimum figure the router will initially sync at.

      First thing to try is UPnP. Log into your router, choose UPNP which is the last menu item and then uncheck UPnP. Then reboot your PC and the router (unplug the router, shut down the PC, plug the router back in, power up the PC).

      @Manson

      It might be worth you trying the same.

      I know it's been published many times on this forum but the cure for my router locking up was to disable UPnP in the Netgear settings. Turning it back on caused it to lock up within 15 minutes. Turned off, no lockups for at least 1 week.

      Now you've just got to get through the evening drop in noise margin (rise in SNR).

      Just looked again at your figures. Your attenuation has increased from 47 (earlier posting) to 54.5! That shouldn't happen. Your attenuation should be fixed and vary no more than a fraction.

      This is nothing to do with UPnP - I'm betting the change has now fixed your regular disconnects.

      Looks like you have a problem on your internal phone circuit. Could be a faulty phone or faulty wiring. Did you change anything between readings?

      Look at your stats again. Then disconnect all extensions, phones, sky boxes etc then see if the attenuation has changed.

      ok have got a new master socket and has now been fitted

      Line Attenuation 48.0 db 30.2 db

      ok have now rebooted pc and router and have these results

      Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 16624 23965 0 715 17394 00:27:07

      Connection Speed 7570 kbps 385 kbps
      Line Attenuation 48.0 db 30.2 db
      Noise Margin 7.6 db 25.6 db

      seems to be stable and I get the internet instantly the pc is booted instead of 5 to 10 mins as before.
      may be that the old bt master sockets with builtin filters are not compatible with todays higher speed connections. I bought a normal master socket from B&Q and am using the filter sky supplied seems to have fixed it .

      Will keep you all posted.

      Your attenuation has dropped back to earlier levels so something changed when you replaced the socket

      You might get a disconnect later this evening (noise seems to be at its worst around 9:00) If this happens reboot and the router will resync to this noise level.

      If you then leave your router powered up then this probably won't be a problem in later evenings. If you reboot the router it will just resync again to the current noise levels and you're back to square one.

      I had this problem connection dropping 20-30 mins and it was down to UPNP. It dont seem to work ou thid router properly so disable it and see if it helps and dont forget to re-boot after you change settings some settings wont change just by apply button. I hope this is of some help although cant help the line speed.
