      Sagem lost wireless...

At some point the firmware has been upgraded to 2.6, I only noticed because the laptops could not connect to the router at all, it doesn't even show as an available wireless network - Lan cable works fine hence me being able to browse here.

I guess I will need to reset this router but am wondering what will happen about the broadband username and password etc, I am happy to reset up all the port forwarding etc but am worried it wont connect at all??

      What do you suggest?

I have disabled and enabled the wireless with no joy.

Tempted to do nothing and phone sky just to have a moan.

After reading the help (sometimes I am too lazy!) - I have factory reset it and it still does not work, when i search for available wireless networks is will not appear, i have another router that allow me to do a site survey and that sees other routers but not the sky one.

Will phone sky in the morning.

Change the channel from auto to another channel, such a 6 in the router. (Click set-up in the top left when logged into the router status page and the channel is in there).

      That's probably the issue.

Edit: Also, whilst you're at it, you can also change the ssid to give it an extra 'refresh'.

      Re: Sagem lost wireless...

It's funny you should mention that, I got up this morning to find that I had no wi-fi. On investgation I found that my router had been reset to factory defaults, and the SSID reset to the STD sky ID. I'm guessing that Sky in there wisdom have decided to upgrade the firmware on the router, but it would have been nice to have known about this in advance as I have now lost all my static IP configs and it wont let me re add them stating that the IP is out of range when it isn't.

Does the secuirty mode change from the present default to WPA2, or is this just an added option?

      Re: Sagem lost wireless...

Well spoke to Sky before I had time to visit the forum and they suggested the same as User05 which was too change the channel - and it worked - odd because I am sure I did that the other night but guess a couldnt have.

Anyway apparently according to the guy I spoke to Sky would have not upgraded the firmware on the sagems - even though I pointed out that i was sure it said 1.9 before.

Anyway thanks for the suggestions - you would have saved me phone call had I visited here first - will know better next time

When you have been around for a while you will discover that usually the Sky Phone Techs are the last to find out about anything. It does not make their job any easier when their own technical dept does not keep them in the loop.

      Re: Sagem lost wireless...

The guy you talked to, albeit gave you the correct info on the wireless issue, gave you incorrect info in regards to the firmware upgrade. All the sagem routers are first for firmware upgrades - it's been happening for around 2 weeks now the upgrades from v1.9 - v2.6.

(It was briefed to everyone at sky, so I'm not sure how he didn't know that)
