How old are you? The firewall will only block things if it has been set up to do that. Has someone set it up to block facebook etc?

      Good point

The black and red screen comes up when a site has been blocked using the 'Block Sites' function in the router. Disabling the router firewall is a very bad idea, it leaves you open to attack from all sorts of 'black hats'. Just have a look at the router log, almost all will report attempted 'kernel intrusions', without the firewall these attempts could quite easily become real intrusions.
