      Can't connect to internet, wireless OK

      Hi,

      I've had the NetGear router for a couple of years now, and it has worked fine everyday. Switched if off at the beginning of this week to do some decorating, plugged it back in and there is no connection to the internet.

      I can connect to the router over a wireless and wired connection from my laptop, but there is no outbound connection from the router to the internet.

      I went into the router console, and all settings are there for the LAN, but the WAN settings are all blank. Tried to ping from within the router, and resolve an address but no joy as there is no outbound connection. All stats show blank for internet traffic.

      I have also done a full reset of the router, using the black button on the back. And connected it directly into the main telephone socket in the house not an extension. Both have not solved the problem.

      Before I ring Sky could someone point me in the right direction, do I need run the setup disk again, or manually re-enter all the settings? Or is the router dead?

      So the Internet light on the router is out? or Amber?

      Could be an outage, other than that it's a likely failed router

      The internet light is totally out, it has been for a couple of days now.

      Sounds like a dead router - obviously trying another one would prove this
