      Re: Sagem Firmware 2.6 upgrade?

To be honest, I've spent most of the weekend and this afternoon trying to narrow down the fault, changing cables, sockets, filters, etc, testing over and over, speaking to various support guys/gals at Sky, and I'd just been told that it was either the router or the line - I was so sick at the point that I hauled out an old (slightly dodgy but still working) Netgear router that was replaced by the Sagem about 2 years ago, to see if I still had the same problems.

When I muster up the enthusiasm to start changing things again (or if this "old" router doesn't improve things), then I'll have a look - I just noticed this thread when looking for one that said "hey, this is how you get a free replacement router" and just thought I'd check to see if it was a possibility

It is also rather annoying that, despite having the full phone package with sky that gives me free calls to customer services, I have spent around 10 on mobile costs in the last 2 day as I had to unplug my home phones

      Hi.
I've got the 1.9Sky firmware installed, I've backed up the settings just in case. How do I get the 2.6 firmware please?

      Re: Sagem Firmware 2.6 upgrade?

Anyone know if it's just the Sagem's due for the WPA2 update or will the older routers follow suite at a later date to (Netgear et al)?

      Re: Sagem Firmware 2.6 upgrade?

Anyone having trouble with IP reservation with this new firmware?
If I try to reserve an IP above 192.168.0.2 I get "reserve ip address out of range!"
Tried a few things but still can't get it to work, worked fine on V1.9.

Yes I have, very annoying. I have spoken to Sky about it and they were not aware of the problem. No news of a fix either.

      Re: Sagem Firmware 2.6 upgrade?

+1 for the address reservation problem.

I could deal with the lack of warning and loss of all my port forwarding etc.settings, but its a little ridiculous that I now cannot reserve an address for my various devices. I'm now left wondering how I'm going to port forward my Xbox360, desktop and laptop without the IP's jumping around all over the place. Any ideas?

I would suggest that everyone experiencing this bug rings/emails Sky to make them aware of their displeasure at the loss of this important (for some) setting.

      Re: Sagem Firmware 2.6 upgrade?

I had to set some of my devices with static IP addresses instead of letting them obtain an IP address from the routers DHCP server.

Very bad testing of this firmware, there are not a lot of functions on this router, it wouldn't have take that long to test them all.
You have to ask yourself if they have missed anything else!

      Re: Sagem Firmware 2.6 upgrade?

      Just a little update:

After fiddling for a while I have noticed that it is possible to use the address reservation table if you have a little patience.

If you go straight in and try .3 you will always get the 'out of range' message. If you remain in the reservation table and then try any other number, all the way up to .199, you will get the same message.

However, if you go into the reservation table and first try .20, it will work about 50% of the time. After this you then have roughly a 50% chance of every other number, including .3, working. (Once you leave the reservation table you are back to the square one).

Another bug I have noticed is that when I've been in the router config page for a while, and then try to move to another section of it, I get the message 'another administrator is logged on, please try later or ask the other admin to log off'. The only way I could get rid of this message was to reboot the router.

All in all, it looks like altogether buggy, poorly tested effort from Sky. How they have managed this when the only thing they seemed to have changed is the WPA2 option is beyond me but hey, this is Sky after all

      Re: Sagem Firmware 2.6 upgrade?

I dont normally use my Sagem router, I use a Billion instead, which since the upgrade to 20meg download and 1.3meg upload, has proved much more stable but as a new firmware for the Sagem is being downloaded I throught I would use it for a while (its not been used for at least six months). Connected it up and it synced o.k, but then the internet/sync led went off. Reseting the router had no effect. Reconnected the Billion and everything is back to normal.
