router freezes after long connection time

Hi, i used to have a problem where my router would disconnect every 24h give or take, i could never get it fixed until one day it just stopped happening but now I've got another 1..

basically my router stays connected for around 700-800 hours then freezes, has to be switched off and on

was wondering if it was logs being full or something like that so i disabled all logging etc. but hasn't helped

looked around the forums and couldn't find a similar topic, sorry if i missed it

      edit: its a DG934G

It could be that errors are building up until the router eventually falls over, with a connection time like that the odd reboot shouldn't be an issue, it's not like it is every day.

      Post your router stats.

Re: router freezes after long connection time

yeah wouldn't be an issue except for the changing IP, i do security work on firewalled boxes who only allow from specific IPs or ranges so every time it changes i need to have the firewall rules updated if its reconnected with an IP on a completely different range

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 13434 kbps 1157 kbps
Line Attenuation 31 db 16 db
Noise Margin 8 db 6 db

      Modem
      ADSL Firmware Version 7.03.01.66
      Modem Status Connected
      DownStream Connection Speed 13434 kbps
      UpStream Connection Speed 1157 kbps
      VPI 0
      VCI 38

what else do you need ?

edit: on a seperate note i can't believe how many people have issues with sky etc. i can't believe how good they've been for me. i must be very lucky with my exchange etc. but of all the ISPs i've been with over the years i've never had one that's so reliable no matter where i'm trying to work with, can't praise them enough!

Your sync speed looks right for your attenuation with a good noise margin so unless you are having noise spikes you shouldn't be getting too many errors.

Can you get any other LLU services at your exchange? O2 will allow a fixed IP address and may be worth considering.

Re: router freezes after long connection time

o hell no, i am never moving from sky
even when i was disconnected every day i would put up with it because the connection i have is like i'm piped directly into the DC; i work in east europe & asia and i've never had any sort of speed dip whatsoever

if the problem can be fixed then cool but if not then i'll gladly live with it, i literally couldn't be happier with my connection, changing to anyone else would be such a downgrade

Re: router freezes after long connection time

Ashame sky are charging for routers being replaced now, buy your own router or try and get a sagem f@st as the dg934v2 is a seriously poor router, ive had 2 as ive been on sky at my hold house too, they both had problems
