Really. being as sky insist that you use their router, they can sod off with replacement cost. I will use my own before paying if i ever need to replace.

I haven't had the briefing, or even heard that date yet, but then again I wouldn't be surprised if it was sprung upon agents the day it is meant to be enforced. One minute it is 'we're forgetting the idea altogether' and then next they decide it's a good idea again. It's pathetic.

Re: charging for out of warranty routers

I am so annoyed by this.

I have had an issue since 18-02-10 and had a ticket number since then.I have had 3 call backs and a call from me everyday between then and now plus spoken to 5 different second tier of support staff who were looking at my problem.

Today conveniently it appears I need a new router and guess what. I have to pay!

tbh If it were me and I was still on Sky BB I would ask for a MAC and when they ask why, say because you want to charge me for a router, even though I have a previous one, which you won't allow me to use.

Re: charging for out of warranty routers

I was also told I couldn't add it to my bill and had to pay by card there and then.

Complaint has already been submitted as I feel from the ticket notes read out to me there has been a delaying tactic to ensure I had to pay.

haha i thnk your on to something there
if enough people refuse to pay and leave they will have no choice but to make them free again i dont see why it has to be a router from them why cant we use our own
i have the sagem one but have my own netgear from my sister when she was on some other network

You can't use your own as you all agreed to the contract which states you have to use the Sky one - not their fault you did't read the small print is it?

It also said that they would supply the router for you FOC, at the time they made no mention of a charge for replacements in or out of warranty, they didn't even mention warranty so I would assume that the router was supplied by them for their service for the time you were using their service, that's not unreasonable as they will not let you use anything other than the one they supply.

What next, the routers price starts to increase and ends up costing more than a router from elsewhere.
