Question "No Internet" light - NETGEAR router

Have been using SKY broadband happily for a year or so till now. Have the black Netgear router. The router worked great as soon as I plugged it in back then.
Suddenly yesterday I had no internet and checked the router, it had the power light and wireless light but no "internet" light. I can log into router admin page and a sky test gives the error 100, no internet connection.

I have tried the following;

1. Restarted router by power off/on
2. Router Reset button
3. Replaced ADSL Filter and cable from filter to router.
4. Plugged filter direct into test telephone socket (under base plate)
5. Unplugged all telephone connections so just filter and cable to router are connected.
6. Called Sky support did a line test and are sending a new router , 5 days to wait.

It doesn't make sense to me that the router is the problem, why the router works enough for me to login to admin page but fails to have any internet connection.

Is there a way to prove the modem part of router is failing ?

I am worried that a new router will come and I'll still have the same problem.

Has anyone else had simillar issues ?

The modem, router and switch are really 3 different parts, although they are contained in the same box. It is quite possible for one part to be faulty and the others to work OK. Wait till the replacement router comes, if it also gives the same result, they will have to get BTO on to the problem.
