It depends on whether the routers credentials have been suspended at Sky's end for none payment etc. You cannot be sure until you try it.

Hmm, I see. Well i'm going to try and get a newer router off them before they start charging, but if not i think i'll buy one of the black ones off ebay as it goes better in the house. Wireless signall doesnt really matter to me since im using a Linksys WRT54GS (DD-WRT) as a wireless switch and get max signal pretty much everywhere.

Sky will not be able to send out a specific router, you get what they send at the time.

What is the problem with yours?

Also, if you do use the one from e-bay you should put your details in it, you never know what that router may have done or how long it will work for etc.

The wireless signal is terrible although it's supposed to be the best one DG843GT, I can sit 5 metres away and not have a 3 bar signal so im having to use a secondary router, So im guessing its faulty. I also understand they wont send specific routers but i think mine should give better signal than it does.

Wireless sucks at the best of times, you would be better with homeplugs or a wire.

Have you thought of using a homeplug with a wireless point built in, at least that way you could move it around the whole house to increase signal.

I assume you have tried different channels ect and downloaded netstumbler to check for any other wireless devices that may be causing problems.

Re: Will Second Hand Sky Router Work?

Yup tried it all, Even home plugs i had some quite expensive netgear ones they used to drop every 5 minutes in my house for some reason, So i just ended up selling them again. I'm ok for wireless at the moment i just thought if i could get a new one from sky that works better i wouldnt need to use my wireless switch.
