      Slow NAS connectivity

I've recently got a Netgear ReadyNas Duo and have installed it on my network, however, I'm getting incredibly slow transfer rates to and from the drives via the Sky DG834GT router. I get ~700kb read and write speeds when connected to the router. When I connect directly to the PC I'm getting over 9Mb per second.

Sky Tech support won't help as the problem is not with the broadband.
Netgear want to charge for help but are uncomfortable as it doesn't have a supported firmware.

I'm running via a wired connection and was wondering if anyone knew some simple tools to check performance or simple hints as to what could be causing the problem.

      Thanks

      Re: Slow NAS connectivity

A couple of things you can try-
First check that you have the latest drivers for the network card in your PC. Check this forum for NAS firmware - NETGEAR ReadyNAS • Index page From what I gather the release firmware is not too good.

Start in Safe Mode with Networking and try a transfer. If it improves this will point at your security software slowing down the transfer.
