Question Netgear slow to aquire IP / DNS info

HAs anyone else noticed how slow the Sky router is to get the IP and DNS info once it says its connected. My old Belkin and Linksys router used to get this info almost imediatley when i connected to my old ISP. With the sky box, it can take up to a minute to populate the info and for me to start using the internet.

Is this a Sky server issue or a netgear problem.. anyone else noticed this ?

Mine is quite slow by comparison - think it is linked to the UPnP issue

Mine sometimes gets the IP address within a few seconds of syncing up, and sometimes I've had to wait nearly two minutes...

My computer was very sluggish accessing the router to begin with; kept losing connection as well. Wife's computer was OK though. I eventually tracked it down to the Default Gateway setting still being on the old setting (192.168.1.1) and was outside the IP range that my ZA firewall was expecting.

I have the same problem, have been on Sky BB for 4 days and my Sky Router seems to take an age to get on and aquire the relevant details.

My Belkin didn't have these problems... Would phoning Sky actually help? Probably not!!!

Was adding a new laptop to my network the other day and pulled the router adapter out by accident, while looking for a space to connect my laptop to charge. Took about three minutes before I could get any website to display.

Yes it does take a long time to aquire IP address. However, it usually syncs almost instantly.

Another one of the bugs in the works It's not exactly a show stopper tho!!!

      Problems here also

      Hi All,

First post here, although I am familiar with forums.

Have had Sky Broadband at home for about 2 weeks after moving from plusnet. Nothing wrong with their service, but saving 7/month.

Have gone for the upto 16meg service, although speed is still about 2meg at our local exchange.

So far, I am having the same wireless problems as described here and in other threads. Computers connect first with 54Mbps, dropping down to 11 after a few minutes.... then service drops out and I can not get it back.

Also, can not get into the Sky user interface page to set up my e-mail accounts..... I phoned about this problem a week ago and they acknowledged they were aware of it. & days later still no different.

      Any ideas ?

      Thanks in advance.

      Ian.
