Thumbs down Sagem Black is dead...deceased....no more...Why?

      Okay guys,

The other night I couldn't connect and the error was server not found. After 3 reboots of laptop i rang Sky.

Lady told me to unplug leave a minute and replug. Now before I unplugged there were the normal lights and normal flashing but still wouldn't connect. When I replugged the power light came on and a red light. She then said that the technical tem would ring back as there would appear to be a problem trying to do a firmware upgrade.

Tech support rang and I went through changing the line from router to ADSL filter, plugging into a different wall socket, trying to run the Sagem setup from the folder but it said that it couldn't find router (even when changing IP address digit at end to 11) the end result is that they have said that it is dead

Does anybody know what has happened? Is there anything I can do to prevent further deaths? Why does it take 5 days to get a replacement? Can I claim back for being without 'tinternet for 5 days?

      Thanks in advance

      Oz

As they have said, it looks like the router tried to do a firmware update and it went wrong.

I don't think this has been a big problem in the past, otherwise the forum would be full of people complaining.

You may get it quicker but I think there has been a bit of a bocklog for routers recently.

I would imagine you could get something (not sure what untill you try) although Sky will offer no SLA for this product so I doubt they are obliged other than to offer whatever you pay per day (10 x 12 / 365 x 5 = approx 1.64 for 5 days).

PSU failure - quite a lot of calls through to sky regarding it. Glad to hear it's sorted, though.

It maybe that the router has been failing for some time and the new one is better at holding the sync speed.

rofl same thing happend to me, the routers lights would do something crazy. Although I must say I did get lucky sometimes and the router would work :/ So I put it down to a electrical fault. I now have the netgear as a replacment and it's giving me my best sync.
