Question Rconnecting BB - No router new though!

      Hello

I'm a returning customer to Sky as I moved to temp accommodation for a while before moving to my new house. So there was a gap of no more then 1 month and half. Any got the TV setup again, no new Sky plus box (fair enough) go the Sky Talk re-instated (no equipment need obviously) and now I've got the BB re-instated but they told me I must reuse the router I was sent back in 2007!! OK so they want to save money by not sending out new routers, fair enough but my concern is the ADSL username & password (If I'm correct this is what is used to initiate the connect for the broadband) which is embedded into the Routers. Would this not have expired as soon as I cancelled my subscription??

If not then I have no issue as I'll stick my old Buffalo router back in and away I go. If however it has expired then how the hell do I get a new one because as I said they embed it into the routers and their not going to send that information out in a letter.

I even queried this with Sky BB tech support but they kept saying it's the same SSID (wrong ) and the username is admin and password blah blah (Wrong again ) They couldn't grasp what I was getting at.

I haven't had a chance to test it yet but been told it should be up and running latest midnight tonight (helpful) so I guess I'll test then. If it fails anyone one know what I can do to be able to get the ADSL username and password??

If you left Sky before with no issues then your old Sky router will still work fine, otherwise there wouldn't be a healthy second market on ebay. They are not tied to a specific account.

OK so the ADSL is a generic username/password for anyone using sky??

The usernam/password is specific to the router not the account but as you already know you can extract these and use a different router.
