      Router and wireless connection

Hi all. Some advice would be appreciated.

I have been achieving connection speeds around 5Mb for some months now on the Sky Unlimited package. Both my desk top and my laptop have been connected to the router wirelessly.

A few days ago the connection speed slowed to a crawl. Eventually it has become impossible to connect at all. However, if I use Devolo HomePlug adapters I can connect both machines with speeds approaching the 5Mb mark again.

Is there a fault with the modem? These are the stats from the Router connected to the Test socket through a microfilter and using the DEvolo Home Plugs:-

      Router Statistics

      System Up Time: 0:54:08
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 6123 8522 0 0 0 0:53:01
      LAN 9574 7821 0 0 0 0:54:08
      WLAN 754 275 0 0 0 0:53:40
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6783 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 49.5 db 27.0 db
Noise Margin 7.1 db 12.0 db
      Poll Interval: (secs)

Thanks for your help. BTW the electrical wiring in this house needs replacing, and as a result the Devolo Homeplugs are prone to problems themselves - hence I would like to have the Wireless connection working again.

Chances are someone else nearby is also using something wireless and it is interfering with you. Try logging into the router and changing the channel, start at 13 and work your way down.

Thanks Smithy. That solved it. My laptop could not find the connection on Channel 13 but a lower number channel works fine for both machines.
