      sky upgrades/downgrades

ive been having problems with my connection for about 4 months solid. everyday it would go down, the download speed would go up or down.

tried contacting sky and they said that it seems a coincidence as on the day I phoned (2 weeks ago) they put me on a different exchange or something due to upgrades happening.

anyway..... my download speed is now 11.5MB and upload has increased to 1.1MB.

I guess that is good, but my download speed was 14.5MB.....

      any ideas why this maybe?

If you have one, connect to the test socket and repost your stats, see link below in my sig for details.

its ALWAYS been connected to the master socket, which is how I was able to get it from 7MB to 10MB when I signed up

There is a difference between the master socket and the test socket! The test socket is behind the master socket and requires the removal of the bottom face plate to access the test socket, assuming you have an NTE5 master socket.

Do you? if so then that is what Andy17 is asking you to do. plug into the test socket behind the master socket.

Clearly with your line attenuation of 35.5db would merit the 14.5mb you say you had. However, as you are now syncing at a lower rate of 11453kbps with a SNR of 7.4db would indicate you have had problems with noise on your line, either internally or externally.
With the SNR of 7.4db then you are unlikely to get anything more than the connection you have now.
      7db is sky default SNR
