Cannot resolve machine addresses in the house

      Hi,
I'm new here. Thanks for any help.
I've been on sky broadband for about 6 months on a Netgear 934
I have never managed to get it to resolve machine names to ip addresses for machines in the house. Everything else works just fine.
This was not a problem when I just had one pc and one laptop as I just hacked the hosts file and allocated them both static ip addresses.

Now I've bought a netbook running xp and I thought I'd have another go at fixing it. There is nothing obviously strange with either the router or the laptop.
I've already tried turning off the firewall.
      ipconfig /all gives

For the Peer to Peer Node problem, have a look at this -
PChucks Network: Address Resolution on the LAN

Are the Node settings on your other machines the same, this may account for the address translation problem. I am not sure but I think to resolve with this setting you must also be running a WINS server.

Wow, many thanks for that. It was a perfect fix. I'd never heard of that before.
