still no router

hi - my line is due to be upgraded on friday, i have still not received my netgear router, sky said they will try and send another one. However i currently own a netgear 834gt, if my router does not turn up im assuming i can use my existing router, i was thinking of resetting the router but i need to know whether the adsl logon details, and password will need to be entered, as they are at the moment as im with pipex.
thanks

You need to use the Sky router to connect to the service, and you also need it to find out your user/password. no router = no connection

My line has been migrated but I don't have a router - at no point did anyone at Sky tell me I could not use my exsisting router and tech support are no help at all. What I have been told is - only Sky routers work as there is a hardcoded username and password. I did suggest that if I got a 834gt, could they supply a flash file -so i could convert an off the shelf router into a magic "sky" router - after lots of robust discussion, as they really did not understand. I've been told that sky tech support do not have a flash file and they have no access to anyone who has the flash file. I've got a sick child, who uses the interent to forfull his education. I'm incandenscent with rage and wish I'd never moved - I'd have been better off going with my local cable company at least then I could have controlled the change over.....

Yeh - the router turned up today, four days late but better than some people. It has duly been persuaded to cough up it's innermost secrets and the wifi will be tweeked shortly - on the grounds it's my LAN network and security.
