Erratic SNR Margin on Netgear DG934G

I've recently purchased a Netgear DG934G from fleabay which I want to use to rule out some issues I've been having with my connection and the Sagem router. One thing I've noticed so far is the SNR margin seems to be a tad erratic and jumps up and down a fair bit between 14db and 10db even during the day when I know I have a stable line.

Is this a "feature" of this paticular model, is it more sensitive to line noise than others? Anyone seen this sort of thing before?

BTW I'm running RouterStatsLite to monitor the stats and there doesn't seem to be any particular pattern.

How do you know the line is stable, a change of 4db doesn't seem to agree with that.

Put on any of my other routers and the line stays roughly around 14db, during the day at least.

yes they are known for their low snr, i have the same router and asked this ? many months ago, my snr is totally steady all through the day but drops very low at night, i am lucky i got sent the v1 router aswell, the snr on that doesnt drop at all, i have been informed the dg934 are really good at holding a connection even with a low snr, mine has dropped to 1db but didnt lose connection

Having read a number of posts regarding similar issues with the DG934G I believe that this may be related to the old firmware I have - V2.02.34. I understand the latest firmware version is V2.02.44 and may fix the problem. As this is auto-updated does anyone have a clue how often the firmware is downloaded, is it every night?

no its not related to the firmware as i have had firmware version v2.02.44 for ages, they only release the update once via auto update, so you now need to google it and i am sure you will find it, i wouldnt just wait for it to auto update because it wont, i am sure you will find the update on this site, i am posative ive seen a post on sky user just before it was generally released,
