Angry Problems with Messengers, Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo Mail

Hi All,

I have got Sky Broadband working through Sagem wireless router since a month now. I am experience following problems. Can you please help?

1. I am unable to connect to Yahoo Messenger(v9.0) and Windows Live Messenger 2009.

2. I am unable to log on to my Hotmail, Yahoo Mail and Gmail account from IE8. I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
But the same works fine from Firefox.

3. Online banking websites (https connection) do not work. I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error

All other websites work as normal

Do you guys have resolution from above problems?
Is there something wrong in my laptop? Is there something wrong in my router settings?

Note that I do not have any firewall or antivirus running.

Can anyone please help?

Regards,
Satyen.

Cool Re: Problems with Messengers, Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo Mail

You should turn your firewall back on and scan with AVG 8, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and SUPERAntiSpyware (free versions). Do updates and full scans

From what the OP is saying there may also be MTU issues here too.

Re: Problems with Messengers, Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo Mail

IE is just one of the problems. I can't access messengers, that's my main concern.

OP = Original Poster, in this case yourself.
MTU = Maximum Transmission Unit, the size of packet sent from your router, before the info is checked.

I would not worry about the MTU, if you have not messed with you PCs settings or the router settings, it will be correct.

I suspect it may be a security setting in IE which is causing the problem. Open IE click Tools>Internet Options>Security tab. Highlight the Internet Zone icon and check that your Security is set to Medium-High. If you have to change this, reboot your PC to ensure the setting is in place.
