      "Internet light" stuck on amber!

      Hi,

      I've been using Sky BB for sometime now and never had any real problems before until last week when, having switched my router off for the night, found in the morning that the internet light wouldn't resume to its healthy green status and instead got stuck on amber (as it has been now for almost a week).

      I called Sky customer services and the chap suggested that i go to the 'router status' page and run some tests there, namely on my ip address which he seemed to think was the root of the problem. Unfortunately as he was talking me through the procedures to help solve the problem i got cut off and haven't been able to get back in touch since.

      Does anyone on here know what the problem could be and how it can be resolved?

      When you say 'cut off' do you mean that you can't phone out at all now or that you just couldn't get back in touch with the same bloke?

      Can you get into the router status page at all? If so can you paste it's contents.

      It could be a failed router, so i you have one spare or a friend who is on Sky, then try theirs to see if it is the router.

      Cut off in that i couldn't get in touch with the same guy who was leading me through a process of going to my router status, disconnecting, and then running some tests, which seemed to be related to a problem concerning my IP address.

      Here are my Router Status details (i'm not sure if you're looking for anything in particular so i'll just include everything).

      From this information your ip address shows that they are no connection to the exchange where you broadband is connected up to. Make sure there is only one micro filter (adsl box) in the master socket, then small cable between router and micro filter connected last. No extension phone cable to be connected at moment to rule out fault with this if you have any. Then check ip address again.

      possibly an issue with the upstream, although not seen it in a long time...

      OR it's suspended...

      Try resetting the router by pushing the reset button on the rear. Keep it pressed until the lights flash.

      Only advice I can give mate is move to Virgin Media! my router is in the same state as yours (apart from now being completly dead) since December last year. Sky are happy taking my money, just dont want to provide a service for what I am paying.

      Good luck, hope you have better service than I got and get it sorted soon.

      Yes, because Virgin have never had any dissatisfied customer
