      Sagem SSH Port Forwarding

Apologies if this has already been posted, I did search.

I am trying to setup port forwarding for SSH to one of my machines on my network. I have setup an Inbound Firewall rule to forward SSH on TCP/UDP port 22 to the IP of my machine and I have SSHD running.

To test this I have Win 7 RC running in a VM and I have VPN'd into my companies network and then SSH'd out of the network to the external IP of the Sagem Router but to no avail.

My machines SSHD is up and working as I can SSH to localhost and it was previously working with old ISP.

      Any suggestions are most welcome.

In what way is it not going to work? I can VPN into my company then SSH into clients/servers on that network.

      Re: Sagem SSH Port Forwarding

there are apprently lots of issues with the Sagem routers and some VPN clients...baring in mind Sky would take VPN as 'business use' which is in breech of T&C's of service so don't call Sky regarding the issue...

Absolute codswallop. Theres plenty of reasons to run your own VPN, without needing it for business. Same as running a mail server from home.

I also VPN into work from home using the sagem.
Anyway, VPN isn't the issue here. SSH is. I SSH just fine through the Sagem using a higher value port number with no problems.

      Re: Sagem SSH Port Forwarding

it's not codswallop - VPN isn't a feature your typical Sky BB user would use and so isn't supported by Sky...same as running your own server - that's also in breech of T&C's

      (h) To protect our network and maintain quality of service for all our users we can temporarily or permanently control or restrict your online activities via Sky Broadband where such activities may have a detrimental effect on other customers’ quality of service and it is reasonable for us to do so (e.g. sending "spam" Messages or hosting a website).
This is where it is covered I think.

(e.g. sending "spam" Messages or hosting a website).
In context it means, that Sky could

temporarily or permanently control or restrict
      It doesn't say its against.
