      Agent_Trig:
You are on the connect package which is subject to port throttling at peak times.

Hi you need to do a Bt Test Result to see what speed you are actually getting your IP Profile during test and Actual Throughput achieved during test as narl has said connect Customers are Traffic Managed from 5pm to 12midnight some lines are being throttled connect Customers are on 40 GBs a month more information on (Unofficial) FAQ - Sky Connect Users and Steve's Sky Connect speedtest blog also on Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down? these are threads about the connect package I hope it has been some help

Ok, I'll run a BT Speed Test tonight then after work and then first thing in the morning to see the difference. The thing is that I have ONLY just connected to Sky BB for the first time so how can they throttle me without knowing what my usage is? I haven't even downloaded anything yet.

Also, how come my router is showing a 7000k+ downstream speed but I am only seeing about 1800k of it? Does that mean that I am losing the speed somewhere between my router and laptop?

Wireless or ethernet? If wireless you may need to check the throughput speed on ethenet to be sure of what is happening.

I have posted speed test results for both connection types ^^^ :-)

How do I check the throughput speed? Does the BT Speed Test do that?

Re: Very slow connection - What steps should I take?

Both your speedtests were run during a 'throttling' period so you can expect them to be low. Run the tests between 12 midnight and 4.30 pm to get your true unthrottled speed. With your sync speed you should get around 6Mb/s.

The BT test will show your sync, Profile and throughput speed. The BT tester is probably the most accurate available.

Re: Very slow connection - What steps should I take?

Just tried to run the BT Speed Test and it asked me for my normal login name for my account. What would this be? I entered the default email address that sky supplied me with and this did not work.

      Any ideas? Cheers

Re: Very slow connection - What steps should I take?

Your ADSL username is the LAN MAC address of your router, with no colons followed by @skydsl.

The LAN address can be found on the router label or in the router Status page.
