      Connection Frustration!

Hey All, ive searched through the forum for some help with this issue, but cant seem to find a potential solution or indeed the cause of the problem, so i would appreciate some help and/or advice if possible.

Im on broadband MAX and get a rather good ~14mb downstream so im happy with this. Generally im hardwired to the router (Netgear DG824gt) but with my laptop its more convenient to connect via wireless. This is where the issue starts. I have always renamed my router, and reset the password, and this is found by the latop and connected.

The connection is ok, and usable, however as soon as i try to download anything at all, the cennection drops, straight away, and then starts a cycle of no connection, connection, no connection until the download is either finished (which is very rare) or cancelled.

Does anyone have any solutions to this? any advice would be great

What channel are you on and have you tried changing to the highest channel number and working down to see which one works best for you?

Originally the router channel was on 6 as default, and the connection was ropey. changed to 13 and the connection has improved immensely. To the point where connection remains until any kind of download is attempted. I can change it down again, but im reluctant to mess it all up again. Do you think this will make a difference?
