      checking for open ports

Can someone tell me how to check if the ports on the router are open? I used to be able to check on my xbox 360 by going to setings and testing connection, then it would say nat open, unfortunately I cant seem to do this anymore. Please explain in very basic terms as im computer illiterate! (reason I want to check is I've upgraded broadband and it was extremely slow finding games on xbox live) thanks!

      try this mate,
Port Forwarding for the Netgear DG834GT
but you will have to look for your own router

      Re: checking for open ports

thanks for the replies but just found out the xbox still checks the ports and unless it comes up with strict or moderate from the test settings then they are open, nothing came up on mine so they must be still open.
I dont know the ports to check and I havent got the netgear router i've got a sagem but I dont know how to edit the information display box thing to change my info.
      Thanks anyway!
