    Takes ages to get a network connection

      Yes that was my point, by putting your own DNS address in mistakes can be made or the server used could be discontinued, by using the router ip address it will always look to the router, the same as DHCP.
      I imagine Sky can alter the DNS address in the router settings at any time.

      Why would you want to make a mistake? Do you think the OpenDNS servers are going to disappear, just like that?
      Many find that they get a much better service from Open servers than from Sky's, that is why I recommend them. I have them set in my router, but for those who can't do this, the best way is to set them in your PC.
