      Cost of a new Router

My Sky equipment (Sky + Box and Router) are coming upto a year old very soon and we have had a letter that asks us to take up insurance for them (8 something a month).

My question is how much is it if my router fails out of warranty and I have to buy another one from Sky and is it worth taking out the insurance that covers all sky equipment.

      Any help greatly appreciated.

      Cheers

Absolutely not. There are a couple of companies who send this stuff out, nothing to do with Sky and basically it's a scam in that the product isn't worth the money asked. Sky do endorse one company, Domestic & General, but that's poor value too.

Your router is covered by your monthly fee. If it goes wrong then it will be replaced free.

Your Sky box, dish and cable aren't covered for free but Sky only charge 65 for a service call which covers everything - parts and labour. Unless you think you'll need to call them out more than once a year (or even once), 8 a month would be a waste of money.

I can tell you that these insurance based warrenties are a complete waste of time, I have had nothing but trouble for my Xbox 360 that was bought from Comet.

At least if you get Sky in and they can't fix it you'll get a refurb box there and then which is covered for 90 days, some of these other ones will most likely take your box away and you may not see it for weeks.
