Angry Low speeds and dropouts please help!!!

I'm close to the edge, i can't understand why my speed is low and keeps droping out. My mate next door has the same Max package as me and he's getting 6000Kbps, with no probs.

Here's my stats:

connection speed: 2101Kbps Download
345Kbps Upload
Line Att: 54.5db Down
30.6 db Up
Noise: 7.7 db Down
17.5 db Up

Ive tried reboots, all at different times of the day.
Removed everything else from the phone line & swapped (new) filters.
Tried my router on every phone socket with the same results after reboot.
I dont have a bt mastersocket with the removable faceplate, but i have located the first on that comes into the house, still the same results. .....

I have to reboot my router about 1-2 times a day, i've tried rebooting at night when its at a busy time but still the same prob.

Can anyone help????

Answered in the other thread you posted in.
Any reason why we are only hitting 2.1Mb/s??
Try not to post the same question in different places it just makes it difficult for other members to see whats already been suggested / advised.

Re: Low speeds and dropouts please help!!!

lol you have just been scammed by sky into the contract... you cannot get speeds that high with a copper pooey gooey telephone line...

the adrenaline speeds you speak of are only available via fiber optics which will be put into demand by 2012 if we're lucky.

i have sky base which rests around 1856-2046kbps using my own ****ing router. the sky provided one achieves around 300-1275kbps... go figure

set G.DMT for faster speeds (for genuine netgear routers)

Re: Low speeds and dropouts please help!!!

Have you tried connecting into the test socket, this will remove any internal wiring issues.

Get your stats again and post them, you may have a line issue but you do seem to be a distance away from the exchange according to your stats.

Re: Low speeds and dropouts please help!!!

i have also concluded that you haven't thought about the statement thoroughly and still fail to understand.

this is the very reason why so many vulnerable people are exploited by these companies.
wikipedia will hopefully help you to understand this situation and increase your awareness. i would also advise seaching "fine print", "fiber optic", "G.DMT", "kb" and "KB" to help you understand and hopefully this will make everyone happy.

what package are you currently using with sky? i would be interested to know this position, thank you.
