Never ever confirmed that was the reason. To the best of my knowledge there is not one recorded instance for using your own router. Its more likely he was cut off for malware / spamming etc

But there is a risk if you choose to do so. But that's your call not mine.

Ahh, that's right, there a algorithm built in that does the user and pass.

Thinking about it, the people that sell their routers on e-bay etc, could someone re-flash with Sky firmware and get their login details?

There was one guy recently that was still with Sky, was using his old router but sold the Sky one after he had flashed the firmware to Netgears standard one.

Yes and if ever the subject of being used illegally, its your problem to sort it out. As it is logged against your Sky account.

another good suggestion... I may still have the disk somewhere. ta
so... it appears the box my original router came in (and the disk that came with it) is buried underneath all the crap in my loft somewhere.

Is there anywhere I can download the flashing utility that was on the disk or would the disk that I have be specific to MY router only ?

actually from Sky to ADSL24 to O2 to Sky

O2 was great up until recently... seems an influx of new customers has had a detrimental effect on speeds and usability... whereas what i've read and heard from other sky bb users things seem somewhat better than when i was first with them.

to be honest it appears that O2 are experiencing exactly what Sky did 18 months ago or so... they perhaps under estimated the demand and effect such an influx of users would have.

ps. I have to say though, ADSL24 were superb... just a bit pricey
