Unhappy P.c showing. This is a hidden network.

      Hi to you all.

i've just become a member today. What a great site

I have just moved from B.T to sky broadband & set up the new netgear router with no problems.

My son got a new dell hybrid p.c on vista with a built in dell wireless 1505 draft 802.11n WLAN mini card from santa & when trying to connect to the sky hub it keeps saying:

Windows cannot connect: This network is marked as a ''hidden'' network and is either not in range or wireless settings saved on this computer do not match the settings of the network

I have a laptop & a brand new dell mini netbook both working & connecting fine.

This morning my sons was connected & working fine for approx 3 hours. Then out the blue the above message again.

I found a thread on the net listing the same prob. Stateing the router was at fault until it had a firmware upgrade to take vista ?

Any ideas please would be most wellcome

      Thanks
      Lee

Sounds more like a range issue ,

Change the channel number for the wireless , best bet would be to set it to 13 ,
Also change the SSID from the default sky***** one to some thing new ,

Let us know how you get on .

Evening steven thanks for the reply.
I changed the name & tryed channel 13 down to 1.
The same message is still there.
If you look at the signal in the settings for the card the graph is at 70% & i can sit next to the p.c with both of the laptops & they show full signal ''Excellent''.
The router is only 5 meters away from the p.c in the next room & it has a 70% clear view through 2 door ways!.
I feel it may be the built in card as you can go down the stairs & upto the garden with the netbook & it has still go a signal.
      Thanks
      Lee

This suggests there isnt a connection problem.
I'm not well up on wireless tho am having to be now my wife and daughter got lappys for xmas.
You could try assigning all the devices static ip's in the router as it may be a priority issue.
Had a similar problem with ours tonight - resetting the router resolved it.
