      Router statistics pre-activation

      Hi all.

I'm waiting for my broadband Connect to be activated and had a look at the router stats. How accurate are they? I was pleasantly surprised to see the line was capable of 7520kbps. Line att is 30db and noise is 6db (which, I think, is terrible. Is it?)

So can I expect an 8MB service? My exchange is full at the moment, hence going for Connect. Am I right in thinking that 8MB is about as good as I can hope for, end of story, or does Connect limit it to that figure?

Many thanks and good tidings ye merry gentlepersons,

      Will

Connect is usually capped at 8128kbps if I recall correctly. However, due to the way BT ADSLmax works, the BRAS profile (the throughput rate) is a maximum of 7150kbps. TCP/IP overheads will further whittle this down to ~6100kbps actual maximum download speed at best.
