      Unhappy Please Help

      I have my main pc attached to sky router with ethenet cable no problem but am trying to connect my lap top with a netgear adapter, I have followed all instructions but cannot get a connection, it is "aquiring an ip address" I am not brill with things like this but would like to be able to sort it out without paying a fortune for someone to come out and fix it, can someone please help (in plain english a 40something blonde!! will be able to understand) I have been told it may be my router settings but i don't know where to begin, thanking you in desperation!!!!

      You put your key in lower case I would think, try giving the key in capital letters, no numbers. If that fails it may be a channel issue and if you post back we can help with that.

      Just to confirm if it is an encryption issue, turn off the Security in the router. To do this, type http://192.168.0.1 in a browser address bar, or click on the link. Put in admin for the username and sky for the password. Go to the wireless settings and select Disable under Security Options and click Apply. Reboot your laptop and see if it connects. If it still does not connect the problem is likely to be your laptop's security settings. Post back. If it connects, go back to the router settings, enable WPA-PSK security and check the pass key. The default key is all capitals, no numbers. Put this into the box when asked for the security key.
