      IP Address constantly changing

      I have a V2 Netgear.

I've noticed that my IP address is constantly changing when I try to FTP into my server at home from work. Sometimes this occurs if I am in the middle of a download which is infuriating.

Sometimes this can occur several times a day.

I don't reboot nor restart the router, so I'm wondering why this IP address should change as often as it does. I realise I am on a dynamic IP with Sky, but to change as frequently as mine does suggests something is dropping out, although I've yet to experience a disconnect in person, as it were.

Does anyone else have this dynamic update occurrence that often?

I have spoken to Sky, and the female support tech told me it would change every time I connected to the Internet.

Yes, it would, perhaps, but aren't I always on? Why would the IP change when the connection is active?

      TIA.

It sounds like your router is resyncing itself (disconnecting/reconnecting). Enable logging in the router admin pages and then see what the logs show.

If you've recently joined Sky then that could be DLM. If not, then you may have a line/equipment fault.

Not recently joined Sky, but this 'problem' has been like it for months and months.

I never thought much about it until recently when I started using FTP a lot from work.

Logging is already enabled, but I've cleared the logs and will start afresh, thereafter I will post results here, but on initial inspection, the router is definitely resyncing itself several times a day.

Could you post your router stats, so that we can see if there is a line/router problem
