      Question Netgear & iMac compatability

      I want to switch to using a Mac but wondering if I can use my current Netgear 834GT router or will I have to buy a new router?

      There are plenty of Mac users on the forum who use Sky routers, some even use them alongside PCs and don't have problems, so there is no reason why you should.

      I have two iMacs, Macbook Pro and Dell desktop using windows (almost chokes using the windows word) but they all work happy as larry on the router... if its wired... just go into System Preferences and Network and check connections that way or if by wifi make sure that if you are connecting using mac addresses filtering on your router that you add the mac code of your imac and add to network...

      If you are using Mac OSX and wifi you can check the signal and transmit rate by pressing and holding down the alt key and clicking on the airport icon at the top of the screen
