      Ports forwarded but reporting closed?

      Hi

I have been having problems with call of duty world at war and after contacting activision support they asked me to check the status of my ports on WhatsMyIP.org : Port Scanners/Sniffers

The ports I entered return as closed, even though I have forwarded them on my Sagen F@ST router. I checked the other firewall rules as well, they also report back as closed.

Is it possible that the firewall on my router has screwed up and no longer works?

      Not very likely at all.

Far more likely is that you've either not set up the portforwarding rules correctly or you have something on your PC (e.g. windows firewall or McAfee) blocking the connection.

Edit: actually there is one other thing. You do know that you need an application using/calling a port before it will show as open? Start up CoD and then check whether the port(s) you've set up show as open.

Re: Ports forwarded but reporting closed?

Well I just hard-reset my router to reset all firewall rules. I have the latest firmware 1.9 on my router.

I added the following services and then added them to the inbound traffic to my LAN IP 192.168.0.2

      TCP/UDP 3074
      TCP/UDP 65535 (what i use for bittorrent)

Port 3074 still reports closed but 65535 reports open. I have forwarded them in exactly the same way.

Windows firewall service is disabled from startup and windows firewall is disabled in the windows setting. I have no software firewall installed.

      Any ideas?

Yes I just realised this after I changed utorrent to use 3074 and it showed as open.
