      Help! Amber flashing Internet

      Hi,

Broadband has been installed for a week and was working fine. However my 3 way phone connection socket got broken and another was purchased (Exactly the same and plugged in to phone socket as normal). However since then my Sky Router sticks on an intermittant flashing amber light on the internet @ button!! This is driving me mad as nothing has changed!.

Could this be a router problem at all?

Have you tried the router alone in the socket without the extension block?

You do have an ADSL filter plugged into the socket first don't you?

If its into a filter into the socket itself and not working have you got a test socket behind the front plate you can try? Make sure its directly onto the socket via filter or test socket via filter for testing to see if something has broken elsewhere.

Thanks for the replies, yes I have an ADSL socket plugged into one of the 3 way sockets. I will have to try plugging the Router directly into the phone socket initially. Has really been a pain as had no problems at all with BT Broadband! grr. Is it possible that I could go back to using my personal wireless Router that I used to use as I never had any issues with this!. If so is there anything specific that I need to do?

If you have no sync to the exchaqnge then it is unlikley that any router will work.

You should have the ADSL filter plugged directly into the socket, then the router to the ADSL side and the three way extension to the phone side. The filter must be the first thing plugged into the socket.

Chances are that once you connect them in the right order it wioll work, I suspect the new three way block is causing the problems with the internet connection.

      Re: Help! Amber flashing Internet

Thanks, basically my main phone socket on the wall is where the 3 way socket is plugged into. The ADSL microfilter is plugged into one of the 3 ports on this. My phone line is plugged into this from here as is on an extension (The phone sits in another room). The extension line feeds through to my living room where there is another microfiler holding phone line (plugged into phone socket) and the router plugged into the adsl socket. Hope this makes sense!. Therefore are you saying that I should get rid of the three way and just plug microfilter directly into phone socket with phone extension into this?.

It was only that this set up used to work when I was on BT with different wireless router.

      Thanks for your help

Have the microfilter plugged in 1st, one side router, then phone the other.

      Socket- filter(- splitter - extension-phone
      . . . . . . . . . (- Router

When you plug the filter in first, do not put another filter at the end of the extension.
